This verse speaks of the social custom Traditional consider adopted child as the true son, that is, the adopted child has the same right as heir to the law and can not marry the daughter of his father, who is falsely considered his sister, but really is not. This verse prohibits this practice forever. It should be emphasized that the Bible is not concerned with this custom!
To understand the verse, it is necessary to give some hints of historical basis.
————-
Zayd Who is it? Zayd, was a prisoner of war between two Arab tribes before [the coming of] Islam. The winning tribe sold into slavery. Muhammad bought it before his call to prophet hood. Zayd Muhammad loved him very much and manumitted and adopted as his son. His name was Zayd, Muhammad's son.
Zayd had married a noble woman (from a noble tribe), his family honored Zayd, because he is the son of Prophet Muhammad. His wife did not like.
Moreover, the adopted son was considered and treated exactly like the real child. It follows that he has adopted the equal right to the heirs of his father and he can not marry the daughter of his father, because she is his sister. Moreover, if the adopted child has a wife, for whatever reason divorced her, her father can not marry her because she was the wife of his son and vice versa.
As a matter of fact, there were many legal rights and many social restrictions for the adopted child when the child is treated as true.
The order and decree of Allah is true is true and approved to adopt. You can have many adopted children, but have no right of inheritance as you would their real children. In addition, an adopted son can marry his daughter because she is not his sister.
————-
The history of poetry was to prohibit making an allowance for the adopted child as the true son.
So, when Zayd divorced his wife, Allah commanded Muhammad to marry her to bring a law to prevent social customs and in the future.
————-
Now it is easy for the intelligent reader understand the verse which means:
Y 'talk about when you told him (Zayd) whom God had favored, giving indications about Islam, and to promote to whom had also shown: at manumitting 'Retain your wife for yourself and fear God ", before divorcing her. But you had hidden in his heart what God was to reveal, and it was feared people would say: "He has married the woman of his son!" Although God is more worthy that you should fear Him, in all things, so take in marriage and is not concerned with what people say. Zayd then divorced her and his [condition] waiting period is over. God, may He be exalted, says: So when Zayd had fulfilled every need I had of her, we joined in marriage to you, so you may not have any restriction to believers regarding the wives of their adopted sons, when the latter have the necessary formalities (the release) from them), when they had completed their waiting period after divorce or after the death of her husband. And the commandment of God, which He has decreed, is bound to be realized.
————-
Note that the Bible is not concerned with this custom! Furthermore, modern Western societies do not worry about this problem social!
